Photography School Is For Amateurs, Find A Professional

Hey there! Me again, and I’m super excited to share some awesome news with all of you today! But first, why is it that we pay so much money for a photo session, only to find out that the “professional” photographer we’re paying is still in school!  Seriously, shouldn’t they know what they’re doing if they’re charging hundreds of dollars for an hour of their time?

Haha, I find it so amusing that each time I post something about growth, education, learning, etc. I lose at least five followers on social media.  It’s funny because people don’t want to follow someone who’s learning, they want to follow the experts! But, what they don’t know is that the experts are the ones who invest in their education and continuing education! A know-it-all photographer goes stale over time and their work becomes dated and predictable.  The photographers everyone is swooning over on social media are most likely the ones who are members of photography forums and organizations. These are the photographers who are spending their profits to attend workshops, learn more, and invest what they’ve learned back into their business so that they can provide you with the beautiful fresh images you so desire!

“Do the best you can until you know better.  Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou

Photography school is for passionate photographers of all skill levels.  A photographer who is serious about the art of photography will stay humble, remain teachable, and keep learning!  The amateurs will work hard to become experts.  The experts will keep learning to perfect what they already know – trying fresh and new ideas, such as those creative jaw dropping images you might find in a magazine, museum or gallery exhibit.  These great photographers are a community that strive for community over competition, they help each other, appreciate each others styles, collaborate together to create stunning images, and they grow that passion for the art of photography by educating their clients and other photographers.

So what’s the big news? I’m sure that by now you’ve guessed that in all of the piles of laundry and dishes, in the hustle of taking kids to school and extra curricular activities, in spending time in faith and worship, cooking and cleaning, working and maintaining a business, running errands, planning, marketing, blogging, attending workshops, researching, etc… I’m going back to photography school!  Yes, I’m adding one more thing to my already busy life and overflowing plate.  But the payoff will be so worth it and as I often say (because I’m always looking towards improving) I’m excited for new things to come!

Stay tuned for another big announcement, thanks for reading, and I’m so glad to have you all on this journey with me!
